He sat on the edge of the roof, his legs hanging off like a rag doll in the wind, the knowledge that he could fall not lost to him. He knew all to well that anything could happen and he could die at any moment even if he wasn’t on this roof, that’s the hidden charm of LA.

Looking out at the skyline Lindsey watched as the overcast fell over the city. The clouds dark and thick like ash, looking as if they’d choke you if you breathed too deeply. The dark would creep into your bones and live there till it killed you slowly from the inside out, hollowing you till you were nothing more than a shell.

Even without the clouds the city would choke the life out of you; he knows because he’s been here for years. Lindsey knows what lurks in the shadows because there was a time when he made those shadows; when he worked for the all knowing evil that ran this town; Wolfram & Hart.

Looking out at the darkened sky as it grew darker; unnatural for the weather and he knew that it was the Partners brewing. Angel and his gang weren’t the only one’s preparing for a fight; the Partners were smarter than they were given credit for.

Lindsey knew Angel was still underestimating them and what they were capable of even with him knowing what they have done in the past. You would think that between bringing Darla back and rewriting the fabric of time so his son Connor could have a normal life would be enough for Angel to make them realize.

It wasn’t enough and Lindsey knew it; that’s why he came back. He came back and used Spike as a puppet in the theater of LA to show Angel what he should be doing out on the streets of LA. Not sitting behind a desk like he used to.

His plan when he came back was never to kill Angel – but to say otherwise would have been laughable – his true reason was to help him and make him see what it’s all about. Granted in the end Lindsey ended up getting his ass handed to him by Angel and then by the Senior Partners, but it worked in the end. His final goal was to make Angel wake up and see the big picture and that all that glitters inside that building was nothing but a distraction.

Angel knew now, everything was coming slowly into focus – for both sides – and there was a war brewing that would make everything else they faced like a day on the playground. Lindsey knew the most about the firm than anyone alive and for once he was going to step up and do something.

”…I swore to myself that I was not going to be the guy standing there with the stupid grin on my face - while my life got dribbled out...”

After all these years he was finally going to live up to those words and take as much control as he could. He was in deep with all the wrong choices he’d made but as long as he had a heartbeat he still had a chance.

There was the crack of thunder in the distance and Lindsey knew it was time to go. Shaking his head he moved off the edge of the building before heading towards the door. He paused when he got to the door, glancing behind him and taking one last look over LA, finally seeing it for what it really is. “Storm’s comin’; nobody’s coming out of this one alive…”
